Violent crime – homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault – in Pasadena fell by 24 percent during the first half of this year, the Police Department announced.

The figure was based on a preliminary crime report by the state’s Criminal Justice Statistics Center, which compared crime reports from January through June 2008 to reports from January through Aug. 31, 2009, officials said in a news release.

In addition to a drop in violent crime, Pasadena had a 4 percent decline in property crimes, which include burglaries, vehicle thefts and larceny thefts, officials said.
